We continue to receive requests for help from many community agencies; and would love to assist more children and families in need. Here are a few testimonials from our advocates:
When Medicaid wouldn’t cover a $1,400 dental appliance for my four-year-old’s cross-bite, I didn’t know how I’d afford it on my fast food job. Thanks to Children’s Emergency Resources and Dr. Vakani, who gave us a generous discount, “my daughter got the care she needed—and I got hope when I needed it most.”
When my kindergartener developed a lump in his throat and sleep apnea, we couldn’t afford the specialist he needed. Children’s Emergency Resources stepped in, covered his ENT visits and treatment, and “made it possible for my son to get better when we had nowhere else to turn.”
“When my son O. started having severe back pain and trouble urinating, I was terrified. We ended up in the ER, and they said he needed to see a urologist. I wanted to do everything I could, but I just couldn’t afford all the follow-up care. I paid for the doctor visit myself, but we needed help with the tests. That’s when the school nurse referred us to CERI. They stepped in, worked with Martin Memorial, and got everything arranged. Thanks to them, O. got diagnosed, treated, and is now back at school, pain free. I’m so grateful—we couldn’t have done it without their help.” — J.O.’s mom
“Thanks to CERI, every child in Martin County Public Schools gets their vision screened each year. When my child failed the test, we didn’t have insurance to cover the eye doctor, but CERI made sure we got the help we needed. Now my child has glasses and can finally see clearly in class—it’s made such a difference.” — A grateful parent
“When my daughter was diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, I was overwhelmed—her Medicaid had been cancelled, and I couldn’t afford the medication on my own. I had just started a steady job, but my savings were gone. Thanks to the help we received, she got the medicine she needed, and I finally felt like we could breathe again.” — A grateful father
“When my grandson came to live with us, we were doing our best to care for him while also managing my husband’s cancer. He had already been through so much, and when we found out he needed dental work, we didn’t know how we’d afford it. The help we received lifted a huge weight off our shoulders, and we’re so grateful someone was willing to step in for him.” — A grateful grandmother
